'I made moons and I was sad' is a collection of costumes and theatrical backdrop for children to wear and play with, to inhabit new characters and stage scenes or photos as desired. The title is taken from something the artist's two year old child said while drawing, and talks of the monumental acts of creation that children undertake through play as well as the tender and vulnerable emotional states that they address.
The work was commissioned by Tiny Ideas Festival 2023, an annual festival celebrating art for 0-7 year olds, and was exhibited at Modern Art Oxford during the festival weekend.
